Home >> Know about Skin wrinkles
Skin wrinkle is a fold in our skin which is mainly caused due to old age, sun damage or hereditary factors. As wrinkles blemish the beauty of our face, many try to get rid of it by using anti wrinkle creams, anti wrinkle lotions, cosmetic surgery and other medical treatments. As the saying goes "prevention is better than cure", one can try to prevent skin wrinkles by eating a nutritious diet and performing facial exercises on a regular basis.
As we get older the multiplication of skin cells become slower and the muscles in our face lose their strength. As a result wrinkles appear in our face. Apart from the old age factor, the wrinkles in our skin may develop because of the following factors:
Eat nutritious food comprised of green vegetables and fruits. Foods rich in Vitamin E can help to protect your skin from wrinkles. As excessive smoking can increase the risk of wrinkles, it is advisable to quit smoking. When going out in hot sun, try using sunscreens or sunglasses (UV protected) instead of directly exposing your body to the Ultra Violet rays. Consume at least 8 to 9 glasses of water daily as water can keep your skin hydrated and reduce the appearance of skin wrinkles.
There are various medical treatments that can help one to reduce wrinkles and hide the signs of old age to the outside world. There are lots of anti-wrinkle creams and lotions available over-the counter in pharmacies that don't require prescriptions from a Doctor. Although some products are quite helpful, many of them don't offer the benefits as advertised or promised. Some anti-wrinkle cosmetic products are bought by consumers with an intention to reduce the existing wrinkles but in fact they (the products) avoid further appearance of wrinkles and don't eliminate the wrinkles already present. Some products may cause side effects and may not be suitable for every one. Hence a good bet would be to consult a Dermatologist before using them for optimal results and safe treatment.
