Swimming is one of the best aerobic exercises that can be performed by children as well as adults. It is not only good for physical fitness but also for relaxing our mind and to get rid of mental stress. In contrary to the strenuous workouts in gym, most prefer swimming as it can be done with enjoyment and refreshes our mind. Swimming on a regular basis can help an Individual to strengthen his abdominal muscles and to improve the blood circulation in his body. It also reduces the risk of certain health related problems like diabetes, cardiac diseases, hypertension etc.

Individuals who don't know to swim are often reluctant and embarrassed. However there are numerous Swim Schools where one could learn swimming without any fear. Some swim Schools also offer dedicated coaches for one-on-one (personal) training and separate classes for ladies.

Swimming is recommended for Individuals who intend to reduce their weight and also to control obesity. Swimming can greatly burn the calories and aid in weight loss programs. But there are also conflicting thoughts that swimming doesn't helps in weight reduction. However unlike weight loss pills, there is no fear of side effects as swimming is a natural exercise. By reducing weight, one can keep his body fit and in a good shape.

Swimming is considered as an ideal exercise during pregnancy. It helps in strengthening the muscles and provides good sleep. Although the chance of getting hurt while swimming is very low, pregnant Women may still have to check with their respective Doctor before swimming.

If you are a beginner, it is recommended to swim for short period of time in the initial phase and slowly increase the timing. Just like any other exercise, it is also recommended to include warm ups and cool downs for a healthy swimming.
